A <span style=\"color: #1e1732;\">recent survey<\/span> conducted this year by Deloitte found that <span style=\"color: #006fd6;\"><a style=\"color: #006fd6;\" href=\"https:\/\/www2.deloitte.com\/ca\/en\/pages\/consulting\/articles\/well-being-and-resilience-of-senior-leaders.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">senior leaders have been experiencing extraordinary strain.<\/a><\/span> One of the <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">highest reported stressors was the desire to provide adequate support for the well-being of staff.<\/span><\/span><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span style=\"color: #42337e; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Consequences of unaddressed mental health issues in the leadership<\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; color: #28292b;\">While employees have received support to improve their mental health during the pandemic, those in management positions may overcommit due to stigma or fear of negative consequences, such as appearing like they cannot handle their role. Unfortunately, while unhealthy for the leader, overcommitment is easily misinterpreted as having a strong work ethic, creating perverse incentives to continue the unhealthful behaviour.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; color: #28292b;\">Working under stress and pressure might help with immediate tasks, but it is unsustainable long-term. Managers will eventually enter a decline. Extreme, long-term strain poses a significant risk to one\u2019s own personal well-being and resilience, as well as to the business.
